BEAR ACTIVITY IN THE STANDING INDIAN AREA

This spring there have been multiple official reports of bears in campsites in the Standing Indian area.  These reports indicate the cleverness of bears who want campers’ food, even when properly hung from tall tree limbs. No reports indicate the bears acted in aggressive ways toward humans. This is a reminder of the importance of proper food storage when camping. The ATC and U.S. Forest Service strongly advise the use of a bear canister or Ursak product as they conceal odors better than regular hang bags.
