March 8 @ 7:00 pm

Brent Martin

“Brent Martin will present on 18th-century naturalist William Bartram and his time spent in the Little Tennessee River valley in 1775.  Bartram’s description of Cherokee villages and Cherokee customs is the area’s most important resource for understanding the valley’s history on the eve of the American Revolution, along with his descriptions of the valley’s plants and natural history. He will also present on the history of the 104 miles long Bartram Trail, which begins in Georgia, travels through Macon County, and terminates at the summit of Cheoah Bald. “
